This is a piece about a book, called “Still They Remember Me: Penobscot Transformer Tales (Volume I)”, and the stories both within and around it. It is the first and only book fully written in the Penobscot language, a language spoken for millenia by the Penobscot people, an indigenous tribe in Maine. The language was lost due to cultural erasure but through projects like this book the language is slowly becoming revitalized.
