In need of advanced medical care, Carmen and Lupita Andrade Solis left their homeland in Veracruz, Mexico to embark on a life in the U.S. Sixteen years later they are still one of few pairs of conjoined twins in the world, and, at the age of eighteen, are beginning to consider how to live independently from their family. The girls dream of going to veterinary school and of returning to Mexico to see their relatives, but face the sobering limitations and instability of their current immigrant status.
